Pro tip: Show “missing” Apps in Windows Store

I recently tried to install MetroTwit from the Windows Store but when typing “metrotwit” or “twitter” in the search field, I got about four results back – none of them being MetroTwit. This has started to annoy me, so I finally decided to figure out what was going on. My findings are detailed in this post.

I’m running Windows 8 Pro x64 with Danish as one of my preferred languages, and it turned out that Windows Store is per default “helping” me only finding apps matching this language, causing English apps like MetroTwit to be excluded from the search results.

To make Windows Store include apps that do not match “my preferred languages”, I did the following:

  1. Open Windows Store
  2. Hit “Windows + i”
  3. Go to “Preferences”
  4. Disable: “Make it easier to find apps in my preferred languages”
  5. Done
